About Prayagraj Local Centre
IEI National Council in its 728th meeting held on 22nd December 2024 at Kolkata under the chairmanship of IEI President Er. V. B. Singh has approved proposal of Allahabad Local Centre Executive Committee to change centre's name from "Allahabad Local Centre" to "Prayagraj Local Centre". Hereafter, the centre is known as Prayagraj Local Centre.
At present more than 1300 corporate members are associated with this centre.
Our History
The Prayagraj Local Centre (PLC) of IEI was established as Allahabad Sub Centre in the year 1965. Later in the year 1987 it got status of Allahabad Local Centre. The centre is situated in the campus of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad – MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj erstwhile Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College Allahabad – MNREC Allahabad, Prayagraj. Allahabad Local Centre of IEI has always been among top leading centres of IEI since its inception.
The technical and social activities of this centre have been well conducted with full cooperation, support and association of MNREC/MNNIT Allahabad. The first Hon'ble Principal of MNREC Allahabad Late Sri G. K. Agrawal ji and other hon'ble principals like Late Dr. Jagdish Lal ji and Late Prof. Brij Narayan ji were chairmen of this centre during their tenures. Apart from this, corporate members of this centre have successfully led the projects of state and national interests in the capacities of Heads of State/ National level Engineering Departments, and have also been successful entrepreneurs. The corporate members of this centre are still serving at different key positions in various Engineering, Administrative, R&D and Educational sectors of the country as Directors, Chief Engineers, Vice Chancellors etc.
